Coraline
On Thursday night we saw Coraline in 3D and as expected it was absolutely wonderful. Since reading the book 6 months or so ago, I've been eagerly awaiting the movie. Go see it. Do.

Chado

This is a photo of one of my best friends - Clair who lives in Scotland now but was visiting a week or so ago. It was so good to see her and catch up as I hadn't seen her for over 3 years. My how the time flies. Amongst other indulgent things, we went to Chado - which is a lovely little cafe specialising in teas (100s of exquisite varieties) and they do splendid japanese lunches. It is run by Brian Ritchie who is the bass player from the Violent Femmes and his wife. Brian often pops in to perform impromptu performances on the japananese flute which adds to the fabulous ambiece of the place.
Mathinna (painting done by my mother)

Available on my mother's Red Bubble page.
"This acrylic painting on canvas is inspired by the Tasmanian Aboriginal woman Mathinna as related in the novel “Wanting”, 2008, by Australian Tasmanian author Richard Flanagan.
Mathinna was born on Flinders Island (off the coast of north eastern Tasmania) to Wongerneep and Towgerer, a chief of the Lowreenne tribe. She was born sometime between July 1834 and June 1835 and named Mary. Mathinna’s parents were part of a social experiment which saw many Aboriginal tribes in Tasmania relocated to Flinders Island.
The name Mathinna was given to her at government house after Governor and lady Franklin ‘adopted’ her as one of their many educational and charitable projects.
